This is the 996 SPS model variant of the Ducati range, available to buy at AT Motorcycles.
Here we have to offer a X reg 2000 year Ducati 996 SPS, We are selling this bike on behalf of one of our local customers who has owned it since 2005 and is now downsizing his classic bike collection. This is a stunning example and a real head turner of a bike! The bike has a well documented past which is detailed bellow from the current owner:
1st owner: December 2000 - September 2002
2nd owner: September 2002 - December 2004
Current Owner: 2004 - 2025, sold to a friend and then who owned it a year, bought it back in 2026 and has kept it ever since.
Receipts up to around 2010 to show parts and work done on bike which are extensive and expensive!
All Mots when they were done are included and they confirm the low mileage
9266 Genuine Miles (Bought with around 2000 miles)
Bike was consistently used up to around 2011 when I had the frame and all bodywork repainted in as close to factory colours as I could get which is how the bike is today. The Ohlins suspension both front and rear was passed to a specialist for refurbishment in Chew Valley (Whitecross Suspension)
Engine was completely disassembled. Engine casings were then sent to Griffs Motorcycles in Bristol for Vapour blasting, as much of the original factory paint was flaking off. I decided not to repaint them as I think they look better in bear alloy. This is how they are today. Griffs also Zinc re-plated all original engine fasteners in gold.
All bearings inside the engine were replaced with genuine Ducati items and the valves etc were re-seated along with shims done etc. Some of the rockers were also changed as some of the chrome had flaked off (again another common issue with these models) The crank was taken specialist engineering firm) and lightened and balanced. All engine re-assembly work was done by a friend of mine who was a factory trained Ducati Mechanic who has even done courses in the Bologna factory.
Total Cost including all parts etc was around £5000.00
We reassembled the bike in 2012 with many new parts including some titanium nuts and bolts. I rode it for a few hundred miles in order to run it in. Changing the oil twice in the process. Since then as can be seen from the old MOTs it has had little use and has lived for quite a while in my Living room.
I do take it out occasionally but find it increasingly more and more uncomfortable as I get older. It has fresh oil and filter (Castrol 10/40 Fully Synthetic) every year without fail and I change the belts religiously for Ducati items every 2 years. The belts were last done in June 2025. So are actually good until 2027.
The bike comes fitted with 50mm open termis but I also have the original quieter Ducati 50mm Silencers.
I have a complete set of carbon fibre bodywork – Fairings/Screen/Mudguard and V Piece. The Single seat unit is a Carbon Fibre unit and is already on the bike. These are all painted in factory Ducati red and do have some nice decals on. I have the carbon fibre airbox and air tubes which these bikes came standard with but I prefer the look of the plastic original units. The bike does not run with standard air filters but instead has a bell mouth filter covering both inlets inside the airbox (more protection in my view). A new one of these I fitted last year.
The bike runs a P8 Computer (Standard on SPS models) and the Eprom chip is customized to work with my bike.
Extras include Samco Hoses, Hel Braided black brake lines with Stainless fasteners, upgraded Brembo Brake Master Cylinder, Carbon Clutch Cover, Carbon Heel guards, Carbon Exhaust Shield, Carbon undertray, Repainted black clutch cover and R/H Engine cover plus Rocker Covers.
As to service history – Its all been done by myself. I have the original Red Toolkit and all original Books plus a genuine factory Ducati Manual in English and Italian. I also have a Dove Single sided Stand for the bike.
All the extras can go with the bike for the asking price.
PLEASE NOTE:
Due to us selling this on behalf of a customer and the age we will not be able to warranty the bike and as such will be sold as a trade sell. It will undergo a full PDI check over through our workshop prior to sale.
